Talk:Circumventing Roe v. Wade
State sponsored rape[edit]
Alabama proposing the same. -- Seth Peck (talk) 20:44, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- oh god. i need to update this page. I had written it before VA went on its tare. GodotGrow a vagina 20:59, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- And the plot thickens, as a Republican lawmaker who run a company that sells ultrasound equipment that DOESN'T sell to abortion clinics chimes in his two cents. Conflict of interest? Still an unnecessary expense? They could just uncomplicate the whole thing and throw it out, but no, that'd be too easy. -- Seth Peck (talk) 17:11, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- Godot: Politicians apparently know better than doctors. -- Seth Peck (talk) 21:56, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- sighs. yup. note, not about any other medical procedure, just women's health related ones. these are the same guys who stated there is "no medical reason a D&X (partial birth) is ever necessary" despite the two doctors who actually DO these procdures (Tiller and Hern) saying otherwise.--Godotoi, putain, genial, merci 22:05, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Useful quotes to be included[edit]
Dumping some links and quotes here, while I do some research. GodotGrow a vagina 21:50, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

- Yet as Tracy Weitz, assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco, concluded after conducting a study on how women are affected by viewing a sonogram before an abortion: “Women do not have abortions because they believe the fetus is not a human or because they don’t know the truth.” As professor Weitz notes, 60 percent of abortion patients have already delivered a child, with most women having abortions because of the “material conditions of their lives.” http://www2.dailyprogress.com/news/2012/feb/26/transvaginal-ultrasound-unconstitutional-ar-1717639/
FBI definition of rape - "citation needed"[edit]
Here's a ref that should tell you if it's true or not (I can't tell, I don't know legalese). Peter Monomorium antarcticum 03:17, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks! I was looking for an FBI cite itself. but this linked to a quote, so that's at least good enough! GodotGrow a vagina 03:22, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
just sticking this here.[edit]
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/03/11/utah-republican-controlled-senate-passes-bill-extending-waiting-period-to-get-an-abortion-to-72-hours/ (not really writing today, as i'm actually (ack) working. If anyone wants to add this, great. or I'll deal with it later. Godotoi, putain, genial, merci 15:28, 12 March 2012 (UTC) Just to whine - every woman who is old enough to have a period, thinks about being pregnant, even if they are not sexually active. Every time we see a drama on tv, or read a novel, or our friends say "I'm pregnan", we wonder "what would I do". Every day we are a minute late, a though flashes "oh shit". The right likes to think we do not contemplate pregnancy till the day we figure out we are pregant, nor do they acknowledge the time it takes from figuring it out, to deciding what to do. We don't need more "time" inforced by the right. All that does is make the fetus that much closer to being a "baby". --Godotoi, putain, genial, merci 15:31, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Some suggestions[edit]
Some ideas Republican law makers might wish to consider:
- Making the mother name the baby on the consent forms.
- Making the mother purchase an outfit for the baby before attending a clinic.
- A nine month cooling off period before the abortion can be performed.
- Signing a decleration that says they understand that most major religions teach that both the mother and baby are going to hell.
- Making the mother attend at least three prenatal classes.
